Gangneung Asan Hospital has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gangwon State and nine cities and counties for ‘Pediatric Emergency Medical Support in the Yeongdong Region’.

This agreement is part of a joint response between local governments and medical institutions designed to minimize gaps in pediatric emergency care in the Yeongdong region and strengthen a sustainable medical safety net where treatment can be received immediately in any crisis situation.

The ceremony was attended by Gangwon State Governor Kim Jin-tae, Gangneung Mayor Kim Hong-kyu, and the heads of nine other city and county governments.

Gangwon State and the nine municipalities will provide a total of 1.6 billion KRW over two years starting in 2026. Our hospital will utilize these funds to address prerequisite tasks for revitalizing pediatric emergency care, including △strengthening pediatric follow-up care △reinforcing the on-call system and △securing specialized pediatric personnel, with the goal of gradually expanding the scope of medical services.

This initiative is expected to alleviate the burden on medical staff who have worked hard to minimize care gaps despite irregular schedules and heavy workloads.
