Professor Sun-woo Jang of the Department of Neurosurgery at Gangneung Asan Hospital and Professor Jin-hoon Park’s team from the Department of Neurosurgery at Asan Medical Center have developed ‘NeckCA’, an index that calculates the necessary correction angle for cervical deformity patients by reflecting changes in body balance after surgery.
Unlike conventional methods that simply straighten the neck, this index is characterized by its ability to lower the possibility of recurrence by considering ‘compensatory changes’ that occur post-surgery.
Actual research has shown that this method leads to better pain reduction and functional recovery, while significantly reducing the rate of post-operative misalignment.
